Shopping center: A commercial facility where three generations of families can enjoy themselves.
Decrease in 'breastfeeding hidden in food courts' and increase in 'use by fathers and grandfathers' cases.
We would like to introduce the case study of "mamaro" implemented at Mitsui Shopping Park Lalaport Yokohama in Kanagawa Prefecture. In this facility, baby nursing rooms are set up on the 1st to 3rd floors, but on weekends when many visitors come, there are instances of mothers discreetly breastfeeding in the food court, highlighting the urgent need for measures to address this issue. The existing nursing rooms tend to fill up more quickly, and as a countermeasure to frequent congestion, they have been installed in spaces where waiting is possible while utilizing cafes and eat-in areas. [Challenges] ■ Congestion in existing baby nursing rooms ■ Instances of mothers discreetly breastfeeding in the food court ■ Use of existing baby nursing rooms being limited to women *For more details, please download the PDF or feel free to contact us.
